Admission

Admission to the master study programme follows the official study regulations. However, before you apply for admission it is advisable to do the online eligibility-check and submit it to the programme adviser. In this online form you will provide us with information on your former study programme, your skills, your grades and some other information. In return, the programme admission board will recommend further action, i.e. whether your application is believed to be successful or not.

Judge yourself according to the online eligibility-check and the following official regulations in order to estimate your success to be admitted to the master study programme.

  • Applicants will be admitted to the master study programme
    • if they have successfully graduated from a Bachelor or Diploma study programme Biotechnology and Chemical / Process Engineering or
    • if they have appropriate work experience of at least two years or
    • if they have two letters of recommendation from professors of their former university.
  • Applicants from similar study programmes may be admitted to the master study programme according to the decision of the programme admission board. The board may require these applicants to participate in additional classes besides the regular curriculum.
  • Applicants from similar study programmes inside the EU with 180 credits (ECTS) will have to achieve another 30 credits. This can be done after admission to the programme at University of Applied Sciences Flensburg following the requirements given by the admission board or before admission at your former univer-sity. However, in the latter case, it is advisable to discuss appropriate topics of study with the board.

Comment:
EU regulations for the master degree require a total of 300 credits ECTS usually achieved in a combination of consecutive bachelor and master study programmes either in a 180 + 120 or 210 + 90 credit partitioning among the programmes.
Non EU applicants may not be concerned with these regulations as long as they do not want to graduate with a master degree fully compliant to EU regulations. In case they wanted, they would have to transfer credits from their former university into ECTS credits.

Applicants must proof sufficient knowledge of the English language by one of the following ways

  • being of English tongue
  • Cambridge First Certificate
  • a German school record stating satisfying English language skills after 12 years of school attendance
  • a record that states at least an one year stay in an English speaking country
  • a TOEFL record of at least 500 points (paper-based)
  • a record that states sufficient attendance of bilingual school classes.
