The master study programme goes on for three semesters. The first semester offers you a deepening of knowledge that has been acquired in your former undergraduate programme with respect to biotechnology and chemical / process engineering. Biotechnology will especially be focused on cell biology and cell culture techniques. In chemical / process engineering we will discuss mathematical modelling of thermal and chemical equilibrium processes including energy, momentum and mass transfer – as modelling and process simulation is common practice in process design, erection and operation. Last but not least there will be a class on modern advanced laboratory analytical and separation methods. Up-to-date elective courses either technical or non-technical add to the curriculum.
During second semester you will have the chance to solve a complex problem in team work. Problem solving in the team will be supported by your supervising professor giving you the necessary scientific background. You will employ resources you need either experimentally or numerically in our modern equipped laboratories. Working on the project you will develop your team qualities and project management skills.
You will dedicate the third semester to the master thesis. Here you can choose to work in industry or to participate in an ongoing research project at the University of Applied Sciences Flensburg. This picture provides for an image of the curriculum of the master study programme.
